The Mission

ORO is a company dedicated to designing and producing equipment that offers creative solutions to outdoor challenges.

The Brand

Why ORO?
The name ORO comes from the term "Orographic" which refers to the influence of mountains on atmospheric processes, particularly how they interact with weather, wind and precipitation. Derived from the Greek words oros (mountain) and graphia (description), orographic phenomena are essential to understanding how mountains shape the natural environment around them.

In meteorology, orographic rise is a key concept that occurs when moist air is forced to rise above mountain ranges. As air rises, it cools and condenses, often resulting in precipitation on the windward side of the mountains. This is why mountainous regions are often known for their distinct weather conditions, such as increased precipitation or snowfall at higher elevations. On the leeward side, the air sinks, causing dry conditions, the so-called "rain shadow effect."

Just like the OROGRAPHIC effect, unforeseen events, accidents or other situations that can happen during excursions are not predictable and it is better to be well prepared.

Multi-use Rescue 4 seasons Tarp

The primary function of ORO survival tarps is to help users successfully extract a non-ambulatory victim (who can no longer move on their own) from the backcountry in any season. They slide on the snow and provide the necessary support to act as a carried stretcher. Its secondary roles are to be able to serve as a tarpaulin, as a poncho, as a bivouac and as the tortilla of the survival burrito (outer layer). These are the professionally designed Swiss army knives of backcountry survival and should be in at least one backpack of any traveling group.
